Hit Factory

The Next Big Thing in Music:

Hit Factory Residency at Bankstown Arts Centre (BAC)

So, what happens when you take a bunch of inventive musicians into a studio, crank up the creative engine, and let them go wild for 16 hours? You get a musical explosion that’s as vibrant as it is unique—think of it as a cultural smoothie with a side of rock ‘n’ roll.

Canterbury-Bankstown Music Scene

Welcome to the Hit Factory Residency at Bankstown Arts Centre (BAC), a partnership between Sacred Currents Inc, Outloud and Cultural Arts Collective, where the magic recently unfolded. Imagine a whirlwind of jamming, songwriting, and recording that resulted in five brand-new tracks and a music video that’s like a musical rollercoaster, blending mystical vibes with the electrifying pulse of Arabic rock.

This is the birth of Western Sydney Sound, an innovative fusion in contemporary music, born here in Bankstown.

The energy behind the Hit Factory Residency is electric! Curious about the result? Check out the magic for yourself:

But hold on—this isn’t just a one-time jam session. The Hit Factory Residency is like musical popcorn, popping out cultural talent and innovation that’s been simmering just below the surface in the Canterbury-Bankstown music scene. As one of the creative minds involved, Richard Petkovic, put it,

“If we had four weeks, we could’ve cranked out an album, shot three videos, and started a world tour—Bankstown to Belgrade and Beyond! And imagine what we could do in 12 months—dropping a fresh, authentic, and uniquely Western Sydney band every month. We could change Australian music in a year!”

The night also showcased a band of up-and-coming local stars under the age of 25 who also threw their hats into the ring. After just a few garage sessions, they whipped up fresh tracks that made their debut on the night—a clear shout-out to the raw, homegrown talent bursting from Bankstown.

This Hit Factory Residency isn’t just a one-off; it’s a full-on movement. Imagine having a new Hit Factory each month for a year. And in that time, we could totally revamp the face of contemporary Aussie music right here in Canterbury-Bankstown!

So, what’s on the horizon? We’re buzzing to see where this musical journey takes us. With Bankstown’s creative vibes firing on all cylinders, the sky’s the limit.

Keep your eyes peeled for more “place-based” music, more videos, and more epic cross-cultural expressions. This is just the beginning!
