If you’re keen to try something different, check out Le Dodo Affamer — Sydney’s only traditional Mauritian restaurant.
This cosy, family-run spot serves up a mix of flavours shaped by French, Chinese and Indian influences.
The lamb fried noodles are a standout, with great wok char and tender pieces of lamb. The chicken salmi is rich and comforting, slow-cooked with warm spices, while the bol renverse — a “magic bowl” of rice, chicken, vegetables and a fried egg flipped onto the plate — is both fun and satisfying.
Don’t skip dessert either. The banana tart and classic puits d’amour are simple, nostalgic sweets that finish the meal perfectly.
A great little spot in Canterbury for anyone curious about Mauritian flavours.
