All aboard! Tucked away in Bankstown is a hidden gem where miniature trains, steam locomotives and passionate railway enthusiasts bring the magic of the rails to life.
The Bankstown Steam Locomotive Society has been delighting visitors for decades with its impressive 5-inch gauge railway, offering affordable train rides that are just as exciting for grown-ups as they are for little conductors.
Public running days take place on the second Saturday of every month (weather permitting), making it the perfect excuse to pack a picnic, enjoy the outdoors and hop aboard for a ride around the track.
A $4 donation per ride helps support the volunteer-run society and the ongoing maintenance of the railway.
Curious about what goes on behind the scenes? Visit on a member work day, held on the first Saturday of each month, to see the dedicated volunteers maintaining the locomotives and helping keep this much-loved community attraction running for future generations.
