Step into Alternatum, an exhibition exploring the tension between digital automation and human creativity.

In a world dominated by algorithms and AI, the artists push back, reintroducing aura, authenticity and the human touch into digital media.

Anna Tow and Willow Ferris use hand-coded animation and artistic software decisions to show the artist’s mark in every frame — not AI-generated outputs.

Dean Qiulin Li captures real, unscripted moments in Bankstown, turning the digital lens into a tool for human connection. Thomas Marcusson and Liam Houlihan use mechanical installations — chess clocks, automated bells, self-typing machines — to make digital code tangible and demand your attention.

Alternatum reminds us that in the age of algorithms, the most powerful art shows the creative human spirit — alive, present and unmistakably human.
